Chris Wong, BCS Enterprise Ltd:
"I had intentionally kept away from soft baits because of the large number of competing brands quickly flooding into NZ.
My personal efforts were spent in developing the jigging market at that time. I felt that to exist in the soft bait market, any product I got behind would need to be exceptional to compete against the market leaders at that time.
We found it in SLAM!
My relationship with Richard Dobbinson and his with Geoff Curley of Bite Time Baits was pivotal in swinging over the distributorship of SLAM to my company. Our combined synergies have resulted in an, initially small, range of baits and colours that are well proven in NZ. Early field testing aboard Assassin with other leading softbait exponents has proven that Geoff was on the right track and that SLAM had arrived!
What I find remarkable is Geoff''s and Janet''s steely resolve to present a bio-degradable product incorporating the Stimulate pheromone that had been designed, packaged and tested on NZ fish; all within a space of 2 years.
Other competitors have taken many more years to achieve a less remarkable product. We are taking our time in developing new baits and accessories but we are always open to suggestions or initiatives from Kiwis that might improve our products or create new ones.
Meanwhile SLAM''s first 20lber goes to Andy Hope who caught a 24.7lb moocher in deep foul off SW Little Barrier recently.
He and his mate were catching regular sized snapper when the monster scoffed his SLAM 5" Bubblegum Minnow.
I am amazed by how quickly the NZ market has taken to the SLAM product. They are performing well past expectations and that there are more baits per packet also makes them the most economical on the market."

"We are thrilled with the success of our new range of SLAM baits with Ultrabite. We have being testing them throughout the country with great success.
Fish Species such as kingfish, bream and snapper in particular have been smashing the new SLAM''s much to our delight.
The feedback from hundreds of fisherman around the country has been extremely positive and we look forward to continuing the development of this outstanding product."

Our trip to Houhora in the Far North of New Zealand was our first soft baiting trip using nothing else but Slam baits.
I can tell you that the name for the product is very fitting, to say the least!
For the first few days we had good success drifting over sand using the small Slam baits in many different colours which in turn, landed many Snappers with an average size of about four pounds and a few fish up to as large as eight.

While this style of fishing is fun and productive, I wanted to try Slams in close to rocks, fishing over foul ground. This type of fishing can be challenging and maybe not quite as productive.
However, we found the average size of the fish being notably larger and well worth the effort.
The fish were Slamming the bait in such a way that only one fish out of many did not stay on.
Maybe the reason for this was the angler hit the fish too quickly out of all the excitement!

Not only did I catch lots of nice sized fish, I also landed a personal best soft bait caught Snapper which pulled the scales down to seventeen pounds. As you can see from the pictures I am very excited about Slams.
So, as far as Slam Soft Baits go I have no doubt that this soft bait will be the best on the market. This angler is well and truly converted to them!!

I have been in New Zealand for 6 years now and have been trying to catch a Snapper. I have been out on a few charters and have come home empty handed
I made a trip out with Richard Dobbinson and he was kind enough to let me try these New SLAM baits that he had.
Within 20 minutes of getting out on the water, Richard had me hooked into my first snapper, but to no avail he escaped. I wondered if it was ever going to happen.
On my next drop, as soon as the bait hit the bottom, WHAM the rod was about yanked out of my hands and after a short fight, I finally landed my very first Snapper!
Two days later we went out again and the first fish of the day, on the first drop, Richard landed a decent Gurnard. Just amazing for a soft bait! It was not long before Richard was hooked up again and this time he boated a Kahwai.
Is there a species of fish that these New SLAM baits can not catch?
We fished for a few more hours and Richard ended up landing 13 Snapper, 1 Gurnard and 1 Kahwai…I ended up boating 7 Snapper myself.
I believe the range of colors, sizes and styles allowed us to be able to catch so many fish, as each spot seemed to call for something different. If you can not tell, I am Hooked on Slam Soft Baits and on Soft Bait Fishing period
I wish I could get out and fish that way all the time.
I look forward to using more SLAM Soft Baits in the near future.

While on holidays earlier this year a balmy calm summer day popped up and it was just perfect to get the kids out into a few flatties.
As we approached our favourite flathead spot the wind dropped off even more so I decided to stuff the flatties and head straight over to one of our snapper spots and burley up a few reds up.
Mark landed his fish, a lovely 4 kilo specimen, and back down went the lures and next thing my 6 year old Emily was into her best ever snapper. After a great fight up came a lovely 3 kilo fish and Emily was all smiles.
Next up it was a double hook up and Caitlin my 9 year old was on the bigger of the two fish. After an epic battle she landed by far her biggest snapper a stunning 78 cm long snapper which weighed just over 6 kilos.
This was by far one of the best fishing sessions the kids have been on to date, and I’m sure they’ll remember it for a long long time.
